The most essential aspect for Salcomp’s business is the development in the mobile phone market, since the number of units sold depends on global mobile phone deliveries. The charger is mainly a part of the mobile phone package sold to the end customer.

In addition to the mobile phone charger market, Salcomp has a strong position in the combined market of all various chargers. In this market, Salcomp is among the five largest players. Other big power supply manufacturers are the Taiwanese Lite-On Technology and Delta Electronics, Emerson from the USA and the Singapore-based Flextronics.

The total market of all various chargers increased by some 10% in 2010, and it is estimated to grow moderately in 2011. The market is fairly fragmented and contains many small operators. The market consolidation started again in 2010 as expected after having halted due to the global financial crisis in 2009. The consolidation is expected to continue in the future.
