Skill development

The personnel’s ability to perform their taskswell is maintained and improved by continuous skill development. In 2008, 1.88% of the total working hours was used for training by the production personnel and correspondingly 3.30% of the total working hours was used for training by the office staff.

Examples of skill development during 2008:
-Over the first year of operation, Salcomp’s Indian plant implemented a new training system that covers the entire personnel, from line workers to outsourced service providers.
-Apprenticeship training continued in cooperation with local educational institutions in Brazil.
-Training aimed at enhancing and developing project management was arranged for the R&D functions in Finland and China.
-Salcomp’s management’s training program was initiated in the autumn and it will continue in 2009.
-Salcomp’s Chinese plant was awarded by the Chinese authorities for excellent employee induction and training and good further education opportunities.
